Are Properties Furnished or Unfurnished?

All of Seekers student accommodation in Newcastle is fully furnished.

Here at Seekers we understand the importance of students coming to study at university. Often they’re moving away from home for the first time, and to a new city, so our properties are furnished so that they are comfortable for students and feel like a home from home.

How Much Will I Pay in Rent?

When it comes to rental costs of our student accommodation, this will vary depending on the size and location of the property.

We do have a wide range of Newcastle based student accommodation available at a number of different price points, which can all be found on our view properties page.

Does the Rent Include Bills?

All of our Newcastle student accommodation is self-contained, and students will be liable for paying utility bills on top of rent.

You may wish to split the cost of bills for utilities between you and your housemates, however with Seekers you can take the stress out of managing, dividing costs and paying bills with our easy and affordable bills packages. Our bills packages are hassle free and can be paid in one annual payment or as one monthly payment per household (divided between each tenant) at an additional cost to your rental fee, the team at Seekers handle the rest, including all of the set up and management admin.

If this is something you’d be interested in, get in touch with the Seekers team or let them know at your property viewing and they can arrange this for you.

What if I Have a Car?

For those students that have a car, or are thinking of bringing one with them to university, some of our properties come with off-street parking. Get in touch with our team and they will be able to advise you on which student properties are available with parking facilities, or those that require a residents parking permit issued by Newcastle City Council.

I am Looking for a House Share Property, Do Seekers Have Anything Available?

When Should I Start Looking for Accommodation?

While there are no rules when it comes to finding student accommodation, those in large groups should start sooner rather than later. Our properties are released every September/October for the following academic year, so the earlier bigger groups start searching the more choice you’ll have.

This is particularly true if you want a six, seven, or eight-bed property – as they get snapped up pretty fast.

But, before you start your search, you should consider the following questions:

  • Do we want to be in a flat or a house?

  • What is our budget for rent and utility bills?

  • Which student area of Newcastle would we like to live in?

Our student location guides can help you narrow this search, providing you with information on the local area.

At Seekers we know group sizes can change once you start looking. But this is nothing to worry about, as we can be as flexible as possible when it comes to securing your ideal student property.

Where Should We Rent a Property?

When it comes to renting student accommodation in Newcastle, we have so many property types designed for students and locations to choose from, you’ll have plenty of choice.

Things you should consider before searching for your student property include:

  • Distance to your University

  • Public transport links to the rest of the city and surrounding areas

  • Proximity to open green space and leisure facilities

  • Distance to shops, bars, restaurants, and cafes

  • Whether the area is quiet or busy

Take a look at our location guides for popular student locations Jesmond, Heaton, Newcastle City Centre, and Sandyford to find out more.

What Fees do I Have to Pay as a Student?

Seekers doesn’t charge any additional agency fees when renting student accommodation in Newcastle.

What PaperWork do I Need to Fill in?

When it comes to your new student accommodation, a member of our experienced and friendly team will prepare all of the paperwork.

They’ll then take you through all of the relevant documentation, including:

  • Guarantor forms

  • Direct debit/payment forms

  • The Tenancy Agreement

You’ll be provided with this documentation prior to signing so that you can review it.

How Do I Secure a Property?

Once you’ve found the student accommodation that you want, it can be secured by each tenant putting down a holding deposit equivalent to one week’s rent. This is not an agency fee, but part of your holding deposit. The second payment to be made is equivalent to three weeks worth of rent, which is due in three weeks time following the initial holding deposit being paid.

Seekers will then remove the property from our website and any marketing sites. You’ll then be asked to complete an application form to register your details. Paperwork must be completed within the first three weeks following payment of your holding deposit. This will allow the Seekers team to draft the legal documentation mentioned above. If paperwork is not completed within this three week time frame, the property will go back on the market and you may be at risk of losing your holiday deposit.
