The most essential utilities that you and your housemates will need to set up are:

• Gas and electricity

• TV Licence

Provided that you are living in a Newcastle student house with all student tenants, then the household will be exempt from paying Council Tax.

It’s a good idea to get your bills set up as soon as possible, as no one wants to be left with no wi-fi or hot water for a few weeks after move-in day. Similarly, if bills get set up late, then you may end up having to pay the remainder when you have already moved out of the property, so it’s best to try and match up the dates as accurately as possible.
