Setting up Utility Bills: Your Guide to making it easy

If move-in day is approaching and you still need to organise utility bills between you and your housemates, don’t worry, Seekers is here to help.

What utility bills need to be set up?

The most essential utilities that you and your housemates will need to set up are:

  • Broadband

  • Water

  • Gas and electricity

  • TV Licence

Provided that you are living in a Newcastle student house with all student tenants, then the household will be exempt from paying Council Tax.

It’s a good idea to get your bills set up as soon as possible, as no one wants to be left with no wi-fi or hot water for a few weeks after move-in day. Similarly, if bills get set up late, then you may end up having to pay the remainder when you have already moved out of the property, so it’s best to try and match up the dates as accurately as possible.

What is the easiest way to set up Utility Bills?

For Seekers tenants, we offer an all inclusive bills package which takes all the stress of setting up utilities away. It’s a great, hassle-free way to split bills equally with your flatmates, while knowing that everything has been taken care of.

Seekers will liaise with utility companies on your behalf and will have everything you need, ready for you when you move in. In our all-in-one bills package we provide internet, water, energy, and a TV licence which is charged per person, per week. The only thing we ask of tenants is to be sent regular metre readings to ensure appropriate usage, it’s as easy as that!
