L-R: Richard Ponton, Investment Director at Walton Robinson with Stuart Niven, Sales Director (UK) of High Street Group
Upon being engaged by the former owner of the office building, S Harrison, Walton Robinson actively supported the conversion proposal. Their involvement extended to pivotal design consultations, where they offered their insights, and dispensed crucial market intelligence, including a meticulously crafted marketing strategy.
Subsequently, Walton Robinson was entrusted with the role of lettings and management agent for the 48-studio apartment complex located on North Street East, which has been rebranded as Student 52, formerly known as Monument House.
Following a comprehensive £2.5 million transformation, culminating in the creation of contemporary and sophisticated lodgings, Walton Robinson adeptly commenced the marketing campaign for the studio apartments. Remarkably, within a mere two months, all the studio apartments were snapped up by eager occupants.
Strategically positioned to cater to students hailing from Northumbria University and Newcastle University, these city centre apartments have been thoughtfully designed to optimise floor space. Each unit is thoughtfully equipped with en-suite bathrooms, well-appointed kitchens boasting premium specifications, bedrooms featuring innovative storage solutions, and appealing living spaces.
Walton Robinson's stature as a leading estate and letting agent in Newcastle is underlined by their growing presence in the student accommodation realm. Notably, the agency recently attained membership in the esteemed National Student Housing Excellence Partnership (NSHEP), a consortium dedicated to promoting best practices within this specialised sector.
In joining this esteemed coalition, Walton Robinson aligns itself with a select consortium of landlords and property management counterparts from diverse UK university cities, encompassing Birmingham, Durham, Leeds, Liverpool, Nottingham, and York. Together, these entities collectively provide accommodation for over 15,000 students.
Reflecting on this accomplishment, Richard Ponton, the Investment Director at Walton Robinson, expressed his pride: "We take immense pride in aiding The High Street Group of Companies in securing this property and furthering our engagement by expediting a rapid letting process. We now continue our involvement as the designated managers for these apartments."
He elaborated, "Newcastle's spectrum of student lodgings has witnessed a marked improvement in terms of quality and scale, largely catalysed by endeavors such as this. The city serves as a thriving academic hub and is increasingly underpinned by accommodations that mirror the caliber of education attainable in Newcastle."
