Beat the price rise. Energy prices are forecast to rise by around 16% in January,* but our 2027/28 prices are already set and won't go up with them.

Student bills packages in Newcastle

Bills included, at one fixed price.

Gas, electricity, water and broadband, with no usage caps and nothing to split between housemates.

How bills work in our student houses

Moving into a student house? We make budgeting for your bills simple. Our bills packages come in two options, so you can find the right fit for your student house. Whichever you choose, your property listing will clearly break down the rent and the cost of your bills package, so you know what to expect.

Required by the tenancy

Bills included

Your tenancy agreement requires you to take the bills package.

  • Gas, electricity, water and broadband
  • No usage caps and no top-up bill at the end
  • A separate bills agreement that ends with your tenancy
Standard

Bills as standard

Bills come as standard, and you can choose rent only.

  • Gas, electricity, water and broadband
  • No usage caps and no top-up bill at the end
  • Price fixed for the life of the package
  • A separate agreement from your tenancy

Rent only: if your house would rather arrange its own bills, let us know when you're signing up and we won't send you a bills package agreement.

Either way, the package covers the whole house, so everyone in it is on the same package.

Why choose a Seekers bills package

Use what you need

No usage caps and no top-up bill at the end of your package.

One payment, no maths

Everyone pays the same fixed amount each month, so there's no dividing up bills or chasing housemates for their share.

You deal with us

We arrange your services and handle the suppliers on your behalf, so you never have to deal with them.

Not renting with Seekers? You can still sign up

Our bills packages are now open to student houses across Newcastle, whoever you rent from. If bills aren't included in your rent, tell us your address, how many of you are sharing and the dates you'd like your package to cover. We'll check your house can be supplied and come back to you with a price.

What we'll need from you

  • Your house address and postcode
  • How many of you are sharing
  • The dates you'd like the package to cover
  • Confirmation that bills aren't included in your rent

How it works

  1. Find your house

Each listing itemises the rent and the bills package price. Seekers has a range of student and professional properties available across Newcastle

  2. Confirm your bills

Where bills come as standard and your house would rather arrange its own, let us know when you're signing up and we won't send you a bills package agreement.

  3. Everyone signs up

Each person in the house signs the bills package agreement. On bills-included houses, your tenancy agreement also requires it.

  4. Move in

We arrange your services with the suppliers, and you pay one fixed monthly amount.

Your questions answered

What's included?

Gas, electricity, water and broadband for the whole house, with the supplier accounts arranged and managed for you. A TV licence isn't included.

Can we arrange our own bills instead?

Where bills come as standard, yes. Let us know when you're signing up and we won't send you a bills package agreement. You'll pay the rent only, as shown on the listing. On bills-included houses, your tenancy agreement requires the package.

What if we arrange our own?

You'll set up and pay your own accounts for gas, electricity, water and broadband. It won't affect your tenancy.

Can some of us have bills and others not?

No. The package covers the whole house, so everyone in it is on the same package.

Is the bills package part of my tenancy?

It's always a separate agreement with its own terms. On bills-included houses, your tenancy agreement requires you to take it, so it ends when your tenancy ends. Where bills come as standard, it's your choice, and it has its own agreed term, like a broadband or phone contract.

What if we end our tenancy early?

On bills-included houses, your bills package ends on the same date as your tenancy, with nothing more to pay. Where bills come as standard, the package has its own agreed term, set out in your bills package agreement.

Is there a limit on how much we can use?

No. There are no usage caps for normal household use, and no top-up bill at the end of your package.

Can the price go up after I sign up?

No. The price you sign up at is fixed for the life of your bills package.

How much does it cost?

Our standard prices run from £20 to £33 per person per week, depending on how many bedrooms your house has. Some houses differ, and each listing shows that house's price.

How do we pay?

One fixed monthly payment covers everything. We'll confirm your payment dates when you sign up.

I don't rent from Seekers. Can I still sign up?

Yes. Our packages are open to student houses in Newcastle whoever you rent from, as long as bills aren't already included in your rent. We'll check your house first.

Which houses qualify?

Houses with three or more bedrooms. We check every house first, and some can't be supplied, for example those with prepayment meters.

Is the TV licence included?

No. If you watch or record live TV, or use BBC iPlayer, you'll need a TV licence, which you can buy from TV Licensing.

What happens at the end of my package?

On bills-included houses, it ends when your tenancy ends. Where bills come as standard, it ends on the date you agreed. Either way, there's no final bill for the energy you've used.

Are any bills included in your rent?
  • Before any bills package is agreed, we check every application to make sure it is suitable. Some properties can't be included, so please check with us.
  • Prices are per person per week for packages starting in the 2027/28 academic year, and include VAT and all fees. These are our standard prices. Some houses differ, and their listings show the price that applies.
  • On houses advertised with bills included, the tenancy agreement requires the house to take the bills package. The package has its own separate agreement and ends when the tenancy ends. Their listings show the bills package price alongside the rent and say the package is required.
  • On houses advertised with bills as standard, the bills package is optional and is a separate agreement from your tenancy, with its own agreed term. These houses can also be rented without one, at the rent-only price shown on the listing.
  • Some houses can't be supplied, for example those with prepayment meters, and their listings show the rent only.
  • Packages are for normal household use by the people named in the bills package agreement.
