Brentwood Avenue also has many food outlets, including favourites like Arlo, Dabbawal and Lemon Grass Deli & Kitchen (formerly Cake Stories). Francesca’s on Manor House Road is also a favourite for many Jesmond residents, and is known for their half-pizza, half-pasta combo.

Heaton

Student rentals in Heaton are also very popular, as the area has some fantastic green spaces and is a great place to live. It’s only a 30 minute walk to both universities, and has great transport links to Newcastle, with a metro stop at Chillingham Road, and the number 1 bus taking you straight into Newcastle City Centre.There are many large supermarkets in Heaton, including Lidl, Morrisons and Asda, all within walking distance. 

When it comes to food and drink, there are many cafes such as The Butterfly Cabinet, and Estate Tea Co. Heaton Park is also easily accessible, with a pizza restaurant at the entrance. There’s also a range of pubs on Chillingham Road including The Chillingham, and a range of takeaways available.

Sandyford

Sandyford student houses are only a 10 minute walk away from both universities and Northumberland Street. The area is located in between Jesmond and Heaton, so it is great for seeing friends in either area. There are also some bars including As You Like It and The Holy Hobo, which are very popular with students. 

Starbeck Avenue in Sandyford is home to plenty of beauty salons, restaurants, and takeaways, including Scream For Pizza. If you like the idea of being close to Newcastle City Centre but enjoy peace and quiet, Sandyford promises to give you more space for your money.

Spital Tongues
